Vendors we take my business very seriously. We are licensed and insured, we follow the laws, rules and regulations.
We are required to make sure EVERY vendor HAS and provides all the required licensing, and Liability Insurance (not homeowners insurance).
We will not jeopardize my life, business, the venues, vendors or consumers that attend my shows.
PLEASE EDUCATE AND PROTECT YOURSELF KNOW ALL THE MICHIGAN BUSINESS LAWS.
If you are selling foods, lotions, salves, YOU ARE at higher risk.
If you are selling and collecting money you need to have an:
EIN # - Employer Identification Number
Sales Tax License
LLC License
Certifications or Permits for Food Handling
FDA regulations for Lotions, Salves and Tinctures
Cottage Food Registration and license Certification if you are preparing & selling any consumable food items
Undercover Federal agents visit shows and look for those in violation.
I have witnessed this, the person was arrested, all their products and their vehicle was seized right there at the show while everyone watched this
it cost this person everything they and their family owned and cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars.
They can shut our show down and arrest the event planner.
We have provided some helpful information - Protect yourself....
Hire a business attorney, business accountant and business insurance agent It's not expensive to have a piece of mind.
Make sure YOU have all the required licenses, certificates and insurance.
We have heard from too many vendors - I have never been asked by event planners for this - I've never heard of this.
They aren't educated to tell you - protect yourself!
Did you know: if someone has an allergic to your products, trips at your booth, cuts themself, etc. they can sue you and take everything you own?
Per the FDA - You cannot claim, state or label your products: cure, fix, heal etc.- you are not a licensed professional to make those claims.
Per the Michigan Food Cottage Laws - You need licensing and certificates - You cannot sell foods that have certain ingredients.
Per the FDA and Michigan Food Cottage Laws - EVERY item must be labeled when made, all the ingredients and your contact information for safety reasons.
Per the Michigan Food Cottage Laws - you MUST have sterile items, handle, serve and package products according to the laws.
This is not going to your family picnic - you are selling, making money, you are at risk.
Businesses need licenses, certifications, business insurance, you must charge tax on products and pay taxes on their sales.
Protect yourself - separate your business from your personal.
It is YOUR responsibility to educate and protect yourself.
